According to an article published in AdvertisingAge, packaged-goods beat analyst expectations for sales growth, meeting or beating forecasts as they increased marketing spending.
Uniliver, Colgate-Palmolive and Kimberly- Clark Corp. stepped up marketing spending: Uniliver increased spending by 400 million with half going to digital and plans to increase full year spending; Colgate-Palmolive said spening is up 4% from a year ago with plans to increase spending in the back half of the year; Kimberly- Clark Corp. increased "strategic marketing spending" by about 25% or around 100 million.
